The MA Division of Marine Fisheries measures levels of fecal coliform bacteria present in estuarine waters as part of its shellfish monitoring program. These measurements are taken monthly during dry weather periods in the PIE-Rivers estuary. We will utilize the results from the sampling locations that are closest to the discharge points of the individual watersheds as an indicator of water quality in those watersheds.
